WELCOME LATHROP STREET SCHOOL AND MONTROSE MIDDLE SCHOOL, (ARCHERY CLUB), TO THE NASP!

An important mailing has been sent to all PA NASP school districts. Please respond to the question concerning "how bows are awarded", complete and return the "reporting" form. Update your archery instructors certification, should they not be "Basic Archery Instructors", (BAI'S).

Flight times are being reserved by schools. Flights may be reserved prior to sending in the reservation form and roster, by sending an email with the flight / flights and number of students in each flight. one hundred and sixty students per flight,  eighty from one school and eighty from other schools, with ten lanes in reserve.

Now is the time to prepare and register to compete in the PA NASP State Tournament on Friday, April 9, 2010! Details on "Tournament" page!

 
APRIL 9, 2010 IS THE DATE OF THE PA NASP STATE TOURNAMENT AT THE PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW COMPLEX IN HARRISBURG.

Congratulations: SCOTT EAKEN for obtaining funds for the implementation of Schuylkill Valley School District into the NASP, including the cost of PE teacher BAI certification!

        Congratulations  EASTON SPORTS DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION for providing $7,500.00, assisting 5 schools in implementing the NASP in Pennsylvania, to date!

FLASH! The October 2nd memorandum from NASP adopting the Carbon Express AMPED XS ARROW SHAFT, HAS BEEN RESCINDED due to a recent test that when one arrow hit another arrow shaft, the hit arrow splintered, which could be a hazard to students. The Easton 1820 will be the only arrow allowed to be used in the NASP program.

         Grants in the amount of $1,500.00 are available from the Easton Foundation, (ESDF), for NASP archery equipment for your school. Email me your School FAX number and the you grant form will be faxed to you.. AL, PA NASP.

The NEW "BEYOND NASP" DVD is available for purchase and is worth purchasing. The "BEYOND NASP" DVD will take you to the next level and provide in depth explanations to help you become a better instructor and archer! Go to the "organizations" page and access the NASP web site for the order form.

The National NASP Championship Tournament will be held on May 8, 9, 2010.

A NASP WORLD Championship Tournament held at DISNEY WORLD, Orlando, Florida on October 10th and 11th, 2009 was a great success! Information is on the National web site @ www.archeryintheschools.org.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams, scholarship winners and 1st - 6th place grade finishers are posted on the "results" page.

A SCHOLARSHIP FUND DRIVE for the 2010 PA NASP State Championship Tournament is underway. Tee and Polo shirts are ordered through the Coordinator. Allow 4 weeks for delivery after order is placed. Prices in the store page are firm, plus shipping. Call or email questions. No extra charge for any option.  It would be great, but not required for the officials to wear polo shirts with their school name and / or position on it.

 Unavailable workshop dates are listed on the workshop training page.  At least twenty, (20), days notice is required prior to a workshop. The BAI, (Basic Archery Instructor), certified NASP training is for teachers and other adults. Basic Archery Instructor Workshops need a minimum of four people, costs Forty, ($45.00), per person plus the instructors expense and is an eight, (8), hour certification course. Teachers receive ACT 48 credit upon completion and the certification is renewed each year by completing a "PA NASP Reporting Form" and sending it to the State Coordinator. Adults, other than teachers, who are BAI certified and have passed the required background check, are permitted to assist teachers.

Number of Schools in PA NASP is now: 83 and counting!

The State Tournament is a cooperative effort between the PA NASP and the Pennsylvania State Archery Association, (PSAA). The PSAA has been involved with this program since the very beginning and continues to be a tremendous contributor to this program.
