The Pennsylvania NASP
A completely volunteer organization
The PA NASP has been struggling since its inception in 2005, and has not been able be as effective as it would have been if it was a part of a State agency. The result is that we are lacking in support for the schools that are trying to implement the program. To be effective, this organization needs between twenty and thirty thousand dollars on a yearly basis to cover: office supplies, mailings, travel, (motel, mileage, tolls and meals), conferences, presentations, conventions, shows, youth programs and unexpected requests.
I ask every club in this State to help this program, and you can do so, by holding one shoot or fund raiser each year and donating the proceeds of that shoot or fund raiser to the PA NASP. The donated funds would be used to assist schools in their implementation of the NASP! Some clubs, ( like Atglen Sportsmen's Club), have maintained sponsorship of a school. Sponsoring a school or schools, is another way to assist our State organization in moving this program forward! We have over 100 schools requesting sponsorship or help in implementing the NASP!
The benefit of this program is far reaching, its a win - win situation for the students, teachers, Schools, families, community as a whole, clubs and the shooting sports industry. Since this program began in Kentucky in 2002, we are experiencing growth, not only in archery, but other shooting sports as well. Club membership in the shooting sports / archery organizations will increase as a result. Archery is becoming a family sport, whole families are experiencing the fun of shooting together, regardless of their age, size or ability. More clubs are providing youth archery programs and as a result, their memberships are increasing.
